Art Classes By Christelle Pretorius

Art ClassesThe art classes are open for anyone of any age, with or without any experience. Whether you are in Grade one or your grandchild is already in Grade one, there is a place for you. Many people wish they had a chance to be creative and learn to paint and many feel it is too late to learn. With these art classes you are invited to explore hidden talents or acquire a new hobby. I am a firm believer that natural talent can only take you so far and that with practice and guidance you can complete artworks with confidence.

Adult art classes are in the evenings. Art classes are two hours @ R500 per month, please note this is for three classes a month. This does not include your material but you will not be expected to buy everything immediately. Please consult me if you are buying art material before your first class to ensure there are no unnecessary extras.

Students work at their own pace and focus on their own style and choice of medium. Adults can choose to start with pencil or charcoal drawings or immediately start with oil paint. Private lessons can be arranged at a higher cost.

Art Classes for KidsScholars attend the afternoon art classes. One and a half hour classes @ R360 per month is available for Grade one to seven. Please note that this is for three classes per month. During these grades, students work at their own pace and progress from “cartoonlike” drawings towards realism. Lessons increase in length as the students’ progress. We work according to a set program.

Grade 4 and up start with drawings (pencil and charcoal) and then progress to painting. Class sizes will not be bigger than 6 students per class. We work in a relaxed and uplifting environment. The idea is to improve the confidence of the students as one is often your own worst enemy when it comes to creating art.

You will be able to receive tuition in a variety of media: Pencil, charcoal, oil paint, watercolour and pastels. Basic art packs will be available, please enquire as to prices.
